Is it becoming clearer what the differences are between Solid Edge with Synchronous Technology and parametric/history based modeling are?

[ I feel the issues raised will be fixed and will not hinder my implementation of SolidWorks / CamWorks for my clients because the benefits of SolidWorks 2007 far out weight the problems in the applications I have in mind for SolidWorks 2007 and CAMWorks 2007. I have no doubt that SolidWorks 2007 will frustrate you but I also think you will love the new tools.

Seamless, Unified, Hybrid is all relative. How seamless? How unified? To what level is it seamless? What we have in SolidWorks 2007 is good enough for me to feel comfortable labeling SolidWorks 2007 seamless, unified and hybrid.

The tools in SolidWorks 2007 show how much easier NURBS can be made to work with.

I'm not afraid of change. IMO most people are afraid of change and to admit when they have changed direction. I'm glad SolidWorks Corp. has finally produced a product that both my clients and I can use.

Even if he is removed the FACT is that SolidWorks has won the market. I have never even seen a seat of Inventor in Phoenix, Arizona. SolidWorks owns the market here. Shops that use to use high end solutions like UG exclusively have now started adding seats of SolidWorks.

Hope you try and make the move to SolidWorks 2007 soon.

Jon, Yes, although I have zero experience with parametric based modeling, so I'm not sure that I'm really qualified to make an informed decision.

Steve,

Have you considered that "having zero experience with parametric modeling" might be a good thing at this point?

It's technology that's very dated and no one till now has been able to come up with something that's better and complete enough for most users.

It's technology that has never been able to deal with imported non- native geometry very well.

It's technology that isn't very good if you have to modify a complex model that someone else has created.

Its regeneration times can suck the life out of a user.

The complex file relations and dependencies that it creates often are an absolute nightmare.

Who needs all this bullshit? They only people that need it are on an ego trip and think they are expert users. I've made a lot of money with knowledge I have of it. It certainly helped in getting the job I now have but I've never deluded myself into thinking there wasn't a better way or that it didn't have serious shortcomings.

I'll have a lot more to say when Solid Edge with S/T is released.

I'm going to take a trip this year to your neck of the woods and was wondering when the Garlic Festive is going to be held. I think it would be something I and my wife would like. R. Wink

Come, spend lots of $$ as the money earned by the volunteers benefits the local schools and other worth while organizations.
