I think I'll have to pass on that generous offer. I've grown fond of my appendages.

You can grow a new ponytail (maybe).

Me too.

Though my ears used to bother me as a kid they dont anymore but still psycological issues maybe--easy enough to mostly let my hair stay long enough problem solved.

==

Cut it today, not bad for a geezer of 51 years old I had flowing locks--imagine the wife waking up next what has been variously described as a "cross between Albert Eienstien and the Wild man from Borneo"

Oh well, REALLY nice of her to usually get up early and make coffee etc let me sleep another hour or so lol..

Thats weird hair the thread drift check it out look at the time stamps.

BTW my killfile isnt quite a crowded as it was and welcome back.

Not sure how to say this but despite what others might like you to think substance mostly devoid of jon humping is preferable at least to many here and there really is life after jb.

Well here's a tid-bit I wrote/posted years ago that kinda fits in with lathe safety issue.

================================================================ This reminds me of what happened at a trade school I went to. I came into the classroom and saw this blond wig on the teachers desk, went over to play with it and saw that some scalp was attached. Ewwuuu! What had happened was a guy (with long blond hair) was looking intently and closely at his part in the lathe at chuck height, and didn't notice that his hair was being wound up on the lead screw below. Once it started pulling him down he couldn't reach the off switch and I don't know if the lathe pulled his hair out or he jerked it out himself but the end result was the same, a wad of hair with partial scalp attached on the teacher desk. I've remembered this all my life, (I have a long pony tail

- leftover from my hippy days) shooting pretty thin on top though. :) ================================================================

Not without notice, and appreciated by many I'm sure--If it turns out to have been a bad decision, you always can go back then I guess.

Generally its cold turkey for me...it's a given that someday even the atmosphere won't be fit for my own lungs.

Some people never learn. Guy at my wife's work was wearing leather work gloves on an engine lathe, he reached in while the spindle was turning something caught his glove and pull his hand in. Snap, crackle, pop, he almost lost three fingers and nearly every bone in his hand is broken.

First or second day the guy is back to work on limited light duty my wife walks by and catches him doing the EXACT same thing! He is reaching into the lathe (the exact same lathe, they only have one) while the spindle is turning. He is wearing leather gloves and loose long sleeves and he doesn't even have the pins out hand and arm yet.

Wife gets upset and yells at the guy and his answer is he's cold, Wife points to three unused space heaters, says close the roll up door, move the space heaters over here and turn them on!........their management sucks. It's nearly two years now and a week or two ago the guy goes back in for more surgery still trying to repair the damage.

I was An Application Engineer for a Machine Tool Manufacturer and Installed MANY MACHINE TOOLS, They all had some way to bypass the lock. I can easily just unscrew the Plate and disable the whole Lock for good, but THAT IS DANGEROUS! I was just looking for a 1 event bypass

You'd think their management would monitor that a little better just for business survival purposes. Workman's comp. fees go up drastically with multiple claims.

So he can brag that he got "screwed real good"?

Why

I would take it personally if someone on my watch ever got hurt. These people just ignore it and treat it like an accident. It's NOT an accident it's unsafe practices combined with poorly trained people.

It's a two man maintenance department not a machine shop and this cost is hardly a blip on the company radar, they have plants spread out over the USA.
