Re: sorting
the hardware department of Wal-Mart. Black plastic base - main body, clear
hinged lid. Twenty five yellow bins in 3 different sizes. All bins are
removable, a useful feature. When you snap the lid closed and carry it by
the handle, the bins are sideways, but I've never had even the smallest
parts move from bin to bin. About ten bucks each as I recall.
Re: sorting
Efficient in what sense? I generally sit on the floor in the
living-room with most of the containers arranged in a more or less
random fashion (more common pieces closer by though). I primarily
sort the pieces by shape, but when I have too many pieces of one type,
I occasionally put the most common colour in a container of its own.
I use the rectangular "Carte d'Or" ice-cream containers for most of my
LEGO. They have several benefits:
+ I have to eat ice-cream to get them.
+ They are relatively shallow (which makes it easier to find a
specific piece).
+ They stack nicely.
Play well,
Jacob

Re: sorting
I sort by brick
2x4,2x3,2x2,1x6,1x4,1x2,1x1
dont have many 2x6 and above or many 1x8 and above so they are just in
with my regular pieces
and have a tub of plates and another lego container full of my special
pieces oh yea and also have a tub for technic stuff
and also a bag of ramps
i'm not too strict i let a few bricks remain in the special pieces ya
got to have em to build anything
its a bit hard to play with them but when you want a piece its great to
be able to grab it instantly instead of digging through the whole
pile(sounds a bit like clawing through a pile of broken glass; its
almost deafening)
