On-line plumbing fittings?

Awl--

Inyone got a source, w/ low minimums? It is just getting ridiculous, locally.

AND, (harold) HD is even *worse*! Whilst they are OK on some of the black pipe stuff, their 1/2 brass Ts are $4.75 each. My local guy has'em at $2.50 each!!! How do you explain DAT????

Turns out MSC is a mini-encyclopedia of plumbing stuff. Not great on prices, tho. $5.41 for that T. :( For example, they carry T's AND 45 deg. "Y" bends, which can come in handy for "subtle-er" plumbing apps like, for example, solving water hammering problems. :) Very expensive, tho. Found a place that has nice 1/8 ball valves, combo M/F npt, etc, but protects dealers, and my shop just happens to be in a dealer-less area, so we get good prices. Alphatechnologies.com

Inyway, would like to find a general humane source of these fittings, incl.

1/8 and 1/4.

I saw reference to 1/16 fittings, I think a 1/16 pipe tap. Ever heard of these???

Simple. They're greedy bastards. You think they're high on brass fittings, check them for screws. You'll have a better understanding than you currently have about your handle "Proctologically Violated©®" .

We shop both Oregon and Washington HD stores, depending on our schedule (Oregon has no sales tax, so you can save big bucks on the right purchases)------but you have to watch prices. They are not run by the same people-----and have different price structures. PVC fittings, for example, are more than double the price in Oregon as compared to Washington.

I still thank back, fondly, of the 260' of 3/0 copper THHN that I purchased from HD @ $1.76/ft when electrical wholesale houses quoted me $2.35 at the minimum, with one place, masquerading as an electrical and plumbing supply house, quoted more than $5/ft.

Do remember that copper has gone out of sight-------so you're unlikely to find a good deal on anything copper related. My timing on the wire was perfect.

NTP taps are cheap. Scrap brass and stainless steel are cheap. I make most of my own for around the shop, unless the client is paying for them or Ive not scrounged a dozen of them.

, for example, is nicely laid out, but on 1/2 Br tees, they show $3.56, about a buck cheaper than HD, but a buck *more* than my local retail hardware guy. Even buying by the case, the price only goes down to $2.90.

Seems like everyone online know what everyone else online is doin, and no one is really straying too far from the mean. Conspiracy? How can my local guy, who's not famous for being inexpensive, and paying boucou rent, be a buck cheaper than the online schmoes?

It is possible that your local guy is not paying attention to the replacement cost of the things he is selling off the shelf. He may have set his price when his costs were cheaper and not checked his invoices recently. If that was the case he might be selling his fittings at a price lower than it will cost him to refill his shelf.
