Chicago - Chicago's top cop said he would get personally involved after 25 people were shot -- seven fatally -- in a 12-hour wave of violence.
It's a show of support for a department suffering from morale problems, staffing shortages and widespread unhappiness over a new contract that cost officers six percent in pay raises over five years.
No arrests have been made in the shootings, which pushed the murder toll in Chicago so far this year to 97. At this point last year, 81 people had been killed.
