OT Pelgun Oil

Crossman "Pelgun OIL" is available at the local Walmart for $3.96 for 1/4 oz, that comes to around $512 per quart if I'm calculating correctly. ... Just wondering what it is or what would be just as good or better. Ideas include air tool oil, Automatic transmission fluid, hydraulic oil, tractor universal hydraulic transmission oil. Just thinking compatible with seals & valves. The "Pelgun oil" is red and made me think of ATF. Hopefully airguns wouldn't be too loud for the neighbor! LOL.

Thanks,

It's a 30 weight non-detergent diesel rated engine oil.

Should say 30 weight detergent oil... got to pay closer attention to my fingers.

That is what the MSDS says (and a few of the empty drums that left Crosman)

Thanks to all for the replies. It's good to know what "Pellgunoil" actually is and to hear of Gunner's success with ATF. The break barrel and PCP guns seem to recommend silicone oil, probably to prevent compression ignition. I know on my Gamo, there is smoke in the barrel after lubing with "Pellgunoil".

I have a good supply of silicone oil from my copy machine repair days, they used it on some machines on the fuser rollers.

Why did they use oil on those rollers? Old Old laser printers needed that oil.
