1. What's the proper name for a big 3/4" chain with a hook on one end?
2. Is there some quick webpage with introduction to taps. What is
NPST, NST etc etc etc designations? Should I sell taps all in one box
or separately?
3. Are these huge drill bits, taps or monster reamers worth anything?
thanks

Re: questions about some metalworking bits I bought today...
link has the name of the manufacturer, then __ foot long alloy
chain.....
3. The huge drills, taps and reamers are not likely to be big sellers.
HSM generally don't need them and corporations are likely to buy new.
I could be wrong. Look at Ebay completed items and see what previous
large drill have sold for.

3) Huge bits go for $2 -$3 a pound at my local surplus places, not many
takers. Yours look pretty nicked up, I'd NEVER consider those for any
production work.
You might be able to use some of them in your lathe with a suitable
"Morse Taper Extension Socket" from someone like Enco. Not too
expensive. Odds are good that they will be some quite wierd dimensions
like 1-19/32" or similar.

Thanks Roy. I will definitely keep some smaller reamers. I also picked
up a couple of end mills from the pile of dust/chips/garbage that was
swept from the floor. If I sell that stuff at $1 per lb (except taps),
I will be disappointed, but it would be a small profit, not a loss. It
seems that selling all large reamers as one big lot is more sensible
than splitting them into little lots. Same probably applies to the
monster drill bits, which impressed my 4 year old.

3) Huge bits are usually sold by the pound at my local surplus stores
without a lot of takers. $2 - $3 a pound retail.
I looked at your pics, it appears that the edges are pretty torn up from
being stored tossed in a box. OK for home use, no interest in using
them in a production situation. You can get MT to MT adapters from
places like Enco

<rant mode on>
I was browsing through the Enco page while I was compposing the reply,
there is a nasty bug that hangs the acrobat/mozilla interface when
accessing multiple pages of their catalog. sure looks like Enco has not
tested their web site with anything other than Explorer.
