am a beginner in robotics

i'm a mechanical engg,a beginner with robotics.will anyone plz tell me
abt the port programming in C or C++ to control my robotic arm.and what
are the other ways to control it eloctronically with a remote control
system. i would be grateful if any of the member provides me with the
basic constructional details for a simple robotic arm.
