Hi

This is a short 6 minutes video.
A full video demonstration is 45 minutes, but I don't have the time,
so 6 minutes it is.
Project Aiko.

It is still a long way to make it perfect, but one step at a time.
Next month I will show how the internal software of Aiko works.
Including Motion Tracing, Ojbect Tracking and recognition. And Face
Extraction and Recognition

I still need to make the movement more smooth. But one step at a time.

Also, Aiko will make her first public appearance at the International
Center on Nov 2007.
Aiko will do 45 minutes of Full demonstration.

Thank for reading. Very Happy

I hope Youtube Work.

VERY good!

"Please do not touch my breasts."

I get that all the time, and now I have robots saying it to me! Sheesh!

Oh man, Gordon, you shouldn't leave a straight line like that laying
around in a public forum. ;)

Just imagine how hard some of us with senses of humor are trying to
avoid making comments, like:

If you don't want to be told that, stay out of the nunnery.

-or-

Leave the sheep alone, they won't bleat that at you.

-or-

Which of your boys said that?

and so on. It's just too tempting.

But on another note. Who would make a sexy doll robot like that if
they didn't want to play with her? Why not make a sexless robot
instead? Did he add that feature because he thought she needed it, or
because it was happening all the time as he showed his work to his
displeasure? I'd guess the later. But of what possible use are breasts
on a non-mamalian robot? I think I'd work on adding feet and legs
before I added breasts. Isn't making a robot move more fundamental
than making it sexy?

My guess for Aiko to walk will cost about another $9000.
I have to use Seiko Motor which cost about $600 each.
Hopefully, I will find a sponsor soon, so that I can continue
my research and make her walks.

It would be interesting to work on her legs.

Re: My Female Android Robot Project Update Video 2

Ah! This is your robot. Okay. I thought this was posted by someone
other than the fellow making it, and there was just a link to a
YouTube site someone else found. Okay then, this is your site, your
robot, right?

Okay, then. You can answer the question. I understand the legs etc.
are limited by financial availabilities. But why breast now? Why
choose to make a reaction to being touched? Does she react to having
her nose, ears, cheeks touched? Or have the breast been a particularly
regularly touched area by people first seeing Aiko?

I would assume there would be a tendency to extend bodily courtesy
given a real woman to a robot woman. It would seem surprising to me
that anyone would "violate" the robots dignity without having an
intimate familiarity with its construction. For instance, no one has
ever picked up my balancer and rubbed its chest. No one has picked up
my walkers and stroked the legs lovingly. While some may think my Mini-
Sumo's or Soccerbots are cute, no one has ever suggested they were
sexy. Why is Aiko so sexy she needs to be reactive to bodily
mishandling?

As an android, and not just a robot, I think it's valid to concentrate
on specific sensors inputs and their behavioral outputs.

As to why breasts and not noses or elbows, do you think the video would
get as many comments? People will remember the demonstration. Since it's
all a matter of where the sensor switch is located, it's a foregone
conclusion that the robot could have touch responses on any part of the
body. Of course, without some expensive approaches, it's a lot easier to
conceal a simple switch under a blouse than it is to place one in the
latex of an android face.

Re: My Female Android Robot Project Update Video 2

Alright. I was discounting the purpose of making an android as opposed
to a mobile robot. Making an android as a goal can certainly make
sense, and yes, I see that was in his thread title.

It would take to long to explain, and not appropriate for putting here
in a robot forum, but I have a line of thinking about sociology or
psychology, basically I call Return Theory. It says basically we are
driven to recreated the conditions of our childhood. So in opposition
to Freud's overly promoted phallic symbol, I think mammalic symbols
are much more common. Anyway, I think our animal substrates impose an
over enphatuation with breasts, and I was wondering if this was yet
another example.

Re: My Female Android Robot Project Update Video 2

Hi Randy and all.

Aiko has touch feeling on her body and arms etc.
The touch feeling is NOT simply a switch on and off.
It is a complex system that go from 0-1000 -/+ 0.5 error within
milliseconds.
Aiko will know the different from being tickle, touch and being punch
at.
I am trying to program to mimic Human behavior.
When I have more money, I will put in her leg to, and hopefully, one
day she will walk.

Aiko breast is complex. You touch certain she will say somethings or
cover with her arms.
But if you really do touch her, she will look for your face and slap
you, just like any other woman with do.

In case you are wondering, for what ever the reasons. When my friends
come over they always touch Aiko breasts.
To avoid that, Aiko was programs to slap people when Aiko is being
touch at her private part.

I don:t have the money to complete big company like HONDA asmio (cost
$200 millions US in research)
in the hardware department. But I can try to beat them in the software
AI.
The BRAINS software feature is the ability to learn from surrounding,
and convert 3D real word object into 2D for Aiko to understand.
Just need to fix a few bugs, and I will do the demo for the software.
It will be a cool demo.

If you have any more questions please do not hesitate to ask.
Regards

Re: My Female Android Robot Project Update Video 2

I am very curious about Aiko's math ability. More so about the vision.
How is she able to read the handwritten notes? What character
translation software makes this possible. I'm assuming it is possibly
a commercial package, and you have integrated it. I don't think I've
seen any software available that works that well. Perhaps I am behind
the times, but that is a very impressive capability.

Re: My Female Android Robot Project Update Video 2

Hi Randy

My fault I should be more clear.
Aiko can read simple writing.
My writhing is not a problem, other people writing maybe.
Aiko can NOT read doctor writing...
Nothing fancy.... if the writing is simple and clear, the software
will try to correct itself....and fix it
Proper letter and words.
There is alot of internal error checking... example.
Number "1" and the letter "l"
So if it read the word "1ove"  it assume and will correct itself to
"love".

I hope that explain it better

Re: My Female Android Robot Project Update Video 2

There are several off-the-shelf OCR packages that can read (usually with
basic training) block handwriting, Randy. You need to get out of your
cave more often! <g>

But I'm curious how well Aiko can read the document given its vision
system. You usually need 150 dpi or better for an accurate OCR pass. Can
you explain more how you accomplish this? Do you take a digital frame
store of the document held in front of her, then pass that to your OCR
engine?
