New hobby electronics community and shop!

Hey Folks,

Just wanted to drop a quick note in here to tell everyone about a
new website community for electronics hobbyists some friends and I have
started and the associated shop. Our primary focus will be on
microcontroller projects using the PIC and/or BasicStamp. We'd like to
cover multiple topics including robotics, automation, control, etc. We
also have an online store where we sell the surplus components from/for
our projects and from bulk buys we pick up now and again. We're eager
to get more people interested in participating on the site and welcome
anyone who would like to contribute to the growth of the site in any
way :) I now return you to your regularly scheduled programming :)

Thanks,

Re: New hobby electronics community and shop!

We should team up Denny. I'm into the mechanical side of things and not too
sharp when it comes to programming nor circuits. So I'll start with a small
challenge to see if you want to play with me... and may be of interest to
the group. I have in my hot little hands a sample ultracapacitor sent to me
by the Maxwell people some time ago. I want to be able to demonstrate the
usefullness of this kind of device by making a mousetrap sized demo. It's a
Power Cache Ultracapacitor PC223 and I'd like to show how a couple of
batteries driving a small motor can be optimized when a heavy load is called
for on the motor with the ultracap. Any ideas?

Re: New hobby electronics community and shop!

Is that an 8" Atlas lathe?

Re: New hobby electronics community and shop!

Yep

Re: New hobby electronics community and shop!

Great lathe, you don't see too many of them any more. My dad has one. For
it's size, it's the most versatile I've ever worked on.

Re: New hobby electronics community and shop!

Pardon me for butting in. You want to use the Ultracap to discharge
into the motor(s) when you need to get through or past an obstacel?

Thanks,

Joe
