I wasn't comparing anything. I merely stated what I had used as batteries
and was told that they were not deep cycle batteries. Then I had to point
out there there are different types of lead-acid batteries and some have
different abilities to survive depth of cycles, and that while some
batteries may cycle deeper, they are all in the "deep cycle" class.
It is the sort of argument that seems typical here. Its frustrating.
The metric is not only number of cycles, but the depth of cycles as well. A
bettery regularly discharged to 40% of capacity and recharged will not last
as long as a battery regularly discharged to 60% capacity. A battery only
discharged to 80% of capacity will last longer still.
"close to zero" is not zero.

If you read page 7 as well, it agrees with everything that I said. Thank's
for the link. The battery life in a stand by unit is 2~3 years.
