Brig Fair American - semi-assembled wooden sailing ship model - Model Shipways Kit
Several brigs bore the name Fair American during the American Revolutionary War and operated as privateers (legalized pirates). One operated out of South Carolina in 1776, another out of Philadelphia in 1778. One of them was eventually captured by the British, and sold to be a Loyalist privateer out of New York. The Naval Academy owns a painting of her stuck on a sandbar during a battle in the Delaware in 1782.
