Williams Golden Memories Series - opinions please!!

Was thinking of adding a Santa Fe F3 to my collection - the red and silver one. Rather than buy an old Lionel one, what do you think about buying a Williams instead? I am not a collector but an operator. I have seen the quality of a steam, so I am impressed so far. I think that by the time you find a decent Lionel you could buy two of the Williams trains. Let me know what you guys think! Thanks, Dave

I've always been impressed with Williams products. Jim posted a review of Williams E7s and passenger cars earlier today.

I would recommend Williams if you know the product line. Some of their stuff has minimum detail and looks a bit cheap. Some of their stuff is well detailed and looks good. An example would be the Williams F7 vs the E7. The E7 is well detailed and cost more, the F7 has minimum detail and cost less. Both have dual Williams motors that are big and powerful. I am really impressed with the way these engines run. Sound is just OK.

Williams does not detail the interiors of their diesels. You see wires and the electric motors thru the windshields. This may bother some but not me.

I am a bit familiar with the Golden Memories F3's. Williams detailed this line rather well. They're supposed to be copies of the Lionel F3's of the

1950's. They have dual motors. All of Williams engines come with a lifetime warranty.
