Astle Park Steam Fair.

Just noticed on another newsgroup that this excellent rally which should have been this weekend has been cancelled. Can't find any official announcement anywhere but the organisers website has been closed down, which sounds ominous. What a shame, have been to this one many times, always an excellent turnout in all classes, including engines.

Certainly looks like Events & Exhibitions Ltd have some problems:-

Oh dear! I do hope that this is not the same company that puts on the 1000 engine rally.

No Kim, This is the gentleman who when we moved the 1000 engine from Tatton to Astle Park threatened any Steam Engine Driver to show at our rally with being banned from any of his shows. I still think the origional Astle Park show run by the village about 25 years ago as one of the best ever. The church ladies group ran the catering tent & the value was so good that most exhibitors just ate at the catering tent.

Check out the Traction Talk site, there's a huge amount of reading regarding the chap who organises it all - Boak I think his name is. He did a disappearing act at Pickering and nobody got paid, low loaders blocking the gates, police in attendance etc.....

Julian.
