Lister Junior main bearings

I stand to be corrected as always. AFAIK the Indian Cos only had licences for the diesels and have never produced anything but. I'd also put money on the bearings being bought-in - probably from Glacier. A lot of Lister and Petter bearings I've seen have a discrete little G somewhere. This is consistent with the drawing that states "the bearing shall only show the Lister part number and manufacturers code" regards Roland

Pretty much correct as always, but I don't think Lister ever licenced their engines for Indian manufacture. Petter's were made by Kirloskar who again weren't licenced but were the original agents in India and started production when Petter pulled out.

It would have been Glacier or someone very similar who made the bearings.

The CS bearings appear to be a brass shell with lining rather than solid WM.

I think it was the last or maybe the one before SEM where ET mentions licensing with DH as the source. No guarantee they were original but my personal observations on the CS are that early ones were plain W-M like the L, then switched to lined P-B and finally steel-backed thin. Off to scorch or rust at YF again now. Weather looks like it could go either way. regards Roland

I have new CS bearings which are Steel backed, and an old original out of my first 10/2 which looks like Brass shell type.

We'll be on the big bird early in the morning, should be in the Land Of The Free

12.20pm local time.
