Does plain ol' spray paint (most likely the rustoleum stuff) generally last well on engines? It's been OK on a couple of my 80's-era lawn tractor engines with alloy blocks, but I'm not sure about cast iron and whether the heat will cause problems there (i.e. if a 'proper' engine block paint is necessary).
I got hold of a little Lauson PAC-184 single-cylinder engine at the weekend (built circa 1947), but at some point in the past someone's given it a dust-over in red (painting straight over the muck that was caking it), so I'd like to clean & repaint it in the green that it would originally have been.
cheers
Jules
