Adjusting white metal castings

Hi All, I yesterday purchased some air pipes for a diesel loco and I'm modifying them for high level.

However, the curve is not quite as much as I would like so they can be tucked back on to the body.

Can these castings be adjusted without breaking by heating in some way ? I understand a soldering iron is likely to melt them?

No, white metal is one of those alloys that does not soften before it melts. Mind you, "white metal" covers a wide range of dissimilar alloys, but all AFAIK go from solid to liquid without softening.

Yes.

Use the castings as guide to bending your own airpipes out of suitably sized brass wire.
