Nothing wrong. That is the same date I get. I am running Norton AV Corporate Edition.
This morning I have 873.
I feel strangely left out. I haven't had ONE.
Maybe they all went to snipped-for-privacy@b.c.
Have any of you got the new one? This one looks like a html web page from Microsoft. The first ones I started getting back in Aug where just plain text. Guess I am lucky only getting maybe 5 a week .

The reason Norton or many of the other doesn't alert on some of these bogus emails is that the attachment doesn't contain a "virus", but rather a "worm". Most common one right now is W32.Dumaru.M@mm (see
It installs from a "patch.exe" or similar file. It contains it's own email system to mail itself and data harvested from your computer (like keystrokes, passwords, addresses) to a remote site. It doesn't exploit a vulnerability in Outlook/Express or Windows. You click it, you got it.
However, if you run a virus scan, Norton will catch it if you've updated your virus signiture file. If you don't clean it, your IP address is known to the author and the worm listens for it's master's voice on all open ports. Format C: /U is next, probably from a site in Belarus.
For info on a good program to fend off the worms, troans, and other nasties that Norton wont, Google "wormguard". They are very, very good.
Those have been trickling into my email for the last year or so.
My system automatically adds the suffix ".safe" to any of the attachments with suspicious suffixes. I have no problems with worms or virus.
I get about 200 per day. Many of them contain the Worm.Automat.AHB virus.
I think it is more than that. I post to several usenets sites and my email address is always in the clear. I get a steady trickle of crap but have never gotten the volumes that others do. Maybe its because I do not use my ISP's email facility. I use my domain hiosting email.
Sounds like it's to late now they have you :-( JB
