It wasn't quite the same with them. For one thing, they were minor actors who I rarely saw in movies or TV. And they were rarely, if ever, featured in major Senate hearings, unlike Fred Thompson (who also played politicians prior to becoming one).
Reagan's acting career was pretty much before my time. I "knew" him primarily as a politician, and only occasionally as a face in old movies.
