Does it make IE faster? That is the big advantage in my mind. Fast and a small footprint.

Currently listed supported plugins for Firefox:

Flash Shockwave RealPlayer Java

Not for Firefox yet, since it is meant to be a very lightweight, small fast browser. Some people have successfully created builds with SVG support, but they are not available through 'official' channels. However, SVG enabled builds of Mozilla are available:
