Hello all, Is it generally acceptable to use this group to announce one's availability or interest in changing jobs; or will it cause the poster to be flamed?

No flame suit required. I think I can speak for the majority and say we're all here to help each other out.

I think as long as you preface with OT (as you've done) and you don't abuse the newsgroup by posting every week (or more) nobody here is going to flame you. They're a bunch of good guys, and mostly understanding that not everyone is lucky enough to have regular work or to be happy with the work they have.
