Board Layout Question on Trace angles...

Sep 09, 2003 0 Replies

I've always written software and firmware all my life but now I am faced with either giving the layout task to the outside for a few thousand bucks, or doing it myself with PCB123.

If I use 45 degree traces, I end up getting errors such as: "Found 11 pad to trace, trace to trace,or pad to via violation(s)"

What the heck do those errors mean?? If I use right angles, or ROUNDED traces, then I don't get any design rule check errors. So i'm tempted to just go with Rounded traces since it's easier to auto route.

So assuming I only have frequencies of 4 MHz clock and 27 kHz pulse width modulation in the board, do I have to worry about 90 vs 45 vs rounded traces at all?

thanks, Mike
