Allan, I was at amazon.com and I ran across a book that you might be interested in by Anthony J. Pansini, called "Basics of Electric Motors: Including Polyphase Induction and Synchronous Motors"
There are no customer reviews or other details on the book's contents, so I can't recommend it (can anyone else?), but I thought I'd pass you the pointer.
