"adapting" You obviously are very clueless making it sound so dramatic. Theres no adapting to be done for one thing. It's finding a way to drive it which is simple.
heard of a 555 injector system, for fixed speed (more or less) 1 cyl
A speeduino might be over the top but may be worth a look
