New Dora railway gun in 1/35 : anyone else pre-ordering this bad boy?

I pre-ordered one last week after I saw the little ad in FSM. Also bought the 1/144 version to use as a trial build before I tackle the big one. Any comments or suggestions on the smaller kit would be appreciated. Once I start I'll put photos up on my website.

Hope you realize how big this sucker is. Lew Pruneau scratchbuilt one and brought it to the 1984 IPMS Nationals in Atlanta and even though it turned out to be about two actual feet too short (he used photos which had unfortunately foreshortened the gun and did not get full dimensions until later!) he had to use a 36 x 80 luan plywood door as a BASE for this beast!=20

I believe it comes with 2m of track...

Yeh, it's a monster alright. We just moved into a new house with an

1100 sqft basement. I plan on using about 400sqft for my model shop and the rest as a rec area and to display some of my models. Mostly I build wooden warships but they take soooooo much time that I break the routine up with armor models in between.

I have the 2 Leopolds, 4 Karls, and the BR52 loco all in 1/35 which I had planned to display floor-to-ceiling on a wall. The Dora will likely have to go there as well.

That's what I've heard, too. When the 1/144 scale kit arrives I'm going to use that as the go-by for how big the 1/35 will be and plan accordingly. I probably won't build an elaborate base, I'm not really all that good at diorama work. Wished I was....

Pure divorce material around here.Last time I looked it was going to be between 600 and 700 US smackaroos, which is a lot more Aussie smackaroos not including postage.

Right you are, mate. $700US + $35 freight to the continental 48 states. Not much more than the new PS3 game console will sell for in November, for whatever that's worth.

The charge on your credit card will appear from a german bank so if you have a Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, etc you could tell your wife that you had to buy some repair parts........uh.....bad idea, nevermind.

Lets see.........I'm going to give someone in Germany about $750 for something that has not been manufactured yet. What proof do you have that it will ever be manufactured? This would easily be grounds for divorce in my house and maybe justifiable homicide (:>

We are saving for a once in a lifetime holiday to the US ,hopefully will be there in March ,April 07 ,so modelling and the rebuild of my Suzuki

1200 Bandit(no 2) into a street fighter comes last on her list of neccesary items . In fact it has been suggested that I depart the second Bandit as I can only ride motorcycle at a time. I may be able to pick one up already done in the US. NOT!!!!
