HELP!!!!!!!!GRAUPNER 400 4.8V

hi guys, i'm an electronics undergrad and building a microcontrolled model, i bought some graupner motors from local model shop and intend to use them as direct drives for wheels, i.e., stick wheels on the shafts. i've tried this and they are not very powerful, they struggle to get going, once going unbelievable speed. has anybody had experience of trying to use them for direct wheel drive or has anybody any ideas to improve the initial torque? would the gearbox's solve the problem?

best regards

I doubt that you will have much luck with using them for direct drive wheels. A speed 400 motor doesn't have the torque needed to turn the wheels at low rpm. The best bet would be to build a small gearbox.

Yea, if top speed isn't much of a concern, use a bolt on 3:1 gear drive. It should still sing right along, though!

Yes, to the last suggestion. A vey big ratio gearbox!!!

If ultinmate power os not teh issue, get the 7.2v motors and gear about 6:1.

GWS make useful boxes - see
