Why do datasheets not have ESR listed

Why do some capacitor datasheets not list their ESR?

are you suppose to assume a value?

The manufacture doesn't want you to know how low quality their product is so they delete important data from the datasheet.

That's pretty sneaky. I was reading the datasheet for a volt regulator and it stated you need a 10uF with an ESR of less than 3ohms and as close to the regulator as possible. So I wasn't totally sure about 'ESR' and started researching the subject.

When I looked at a datasheet to see how it's specified, I couldn't find it. I wasn't sure if they specify ESR by the current load or what.

So the capacitors I was looking at should not be used if I need a 3ohm max ESR ????

The ESR is normally provided on data sheets. Here is a list of manufacturers of both Aluminum and Tantalum capacitors:

Checking one or two manufacturers, you should find the ESR values. 3 ohms seems like a lot, you should have no trobule finding a capacitor at 10uF with less then 3ohm ESR.

Hi peter,

Could be not enough space! ( sometimes a values is depend on your own to justify)

Tks
