for the simply supported 2d model,say the model is just supported on knife edgw and not clamped ,wat will be thw boundary condition we will be imposing on ANSYS.when i opted for constraining only y-co-ordinate at both ends am ending up with 0 natural frequency for the first mode.Am i wrong with my BC.

Go back to basic principles......
In a "classical" or "hand" solution what does the SS beam sketch look like?
What is the minimum number of reactions required to make the SS beam statically determinate?

is the knife edge perpendicular to the xy plane?.....i'm not a ansys user but i'm interested in finite element.
Modes with 0 frequency are solid body motion. For your case the model can still move freely in x so you will get solid body motion. Just ignore this frequency. The second mode should be the 1st bending mode for the beam.

If you read my post you would have noticed that I was trying to get the OP to think about the situation.
Just giving someone the answer, does them a disservice.
Anyone attempting to use a piece of FEM software should understand hand / classical analysis......if the OP doesn't understand the basics just plugging into software is a great idea.
A zero nature frequency is a pretty basic FEM error.
