MYself a fianl year Btech Student in Mechanical Engg

I wud like to have a calmping mechanism for a rotaing chuck of a vertical surface grinder. THe clamp is required to hold large pieces of weight 1 tonn ona rotaing chuck running at a speed of 12 rpm . the job is being cut by a diamond tipped vertical grinder at a speed of 340 rpm,,

THe material to be clamped is a refractory materials of rectangular in shape and weighing about 2 tonnes .. THe chuck used is a round chuck with 240 mm dia running at a speed of

12 rpm kept horzontally rotating at its vertiacl axis... the cutting tool is a vertical rotary diamond tipped surface grinder rotating at a speed of 340 rpm..... Please tell me if you need any more information

I would consider the merits of cementing a metal boss to the foot and the top of the slab. The boss, a solid cylinder, would fit the chuck well. The top boss would fit a live tailstock. The cement line would spread the torque optimally over the brittle surface. The cutter/grinder would minimize the bumping over the uneven surface. Let me put that another way: you would need to ensure that the bumping is minimized - I expect it is distressing to crack a 2 ton lump.
