Hypoelasticity

Hello all,

I have written an incremental elastic FE code, and an incremental hypoelastic FE code.

Using both codes, I subjected a shaft of hex elements to a torsion.

The results are shown here:

The first gif animation is the hypoelastic code. The second gif animation is the elastic code.

Can someone explain in words why the elastic code is odd in two aspects:

1) the elements shrink in volume at the load applicatoin point for the elastic (2nd) case.

2) the elastic case never seems to converge, but seems to oscillate.

Why is the hypoelastic better... in words... (yes, I know hypoelasticicty removes rotational effects of frame indiffernece)
