Shot peen question

What happens to surface corrosion during shot peening (high tensile strength steel)?

Does the corrosion get driven into the part?

The idea is to chip/drive it off the surface of the part. But if the peening is being done incorrectly (angle, pressure, etc.), folding of the material over surface corrosion is indeed possible.
