Got the inductive heating unit in the mail today , and it's almost everything they advertised . Heats a 3/8" nut to dark red in about 20 seconds , and definitely makes it easier to turn . I'll be trying it out on the truck bed bolts today or tomorrow . This has GOT to be easier than cutting off the bolts with an angle grinder ! It's also probably safer than throwing sparks around near the gas tank - and I for sure wouldn't dare use an OA torch for this task !

Ah-yup. I once decided to use a torch to make some bolt holes for a frame mounted receiver hitch on an old beater truck. I clamped the hitch in place and used the bolt holes as torch guides. Imagine my surprise when I blew through a fuel line on the opposite side of a member and flaming gas poured out. One of the few times I was happy to be working on a truck laying on the ground in the middle of 100,000 square miles of kitty litter. A couple handfuls of sand put out the fire, and all that really poured out was what was in the line.

I was a wild and crazy guy and not in a Steve Martin kind of way. Dying in an inferno of gasoline was low risk for me back then.
