Gotta build me a steam engine

I bought 1/2 a steam iron on Saturday so now I need to build a steam engine. Actually, what I bought was the boiler for an industrial steam iron. I haven't done any checking yet, but it would seem to be a possible source of steam for a low to medium pressure engine. It consists of an oddly shaped cast aluminium container with various drain and vent valves, two safety valves, pressure gage and sight glass. It also has electrics that need replacement and Insulation that we won't investigate too closely. All in all, an interesting couple of bucks worth. Gerry :-)} London, Canada

Be careful, my brother says steam can be addictive:

Christmas about 55+ years ago. The die cast flywheel fell apart several years ago and as soon as I finish the "Honeydo List" and find my round "tuit" I'll get it running again. Gerry :-)} London, Canada

Finish that list and you're done, Gerry:

--FWIW if you're around California next weekend will be the Delta Steamboat Meet, just of Hwy 12 near the thriving metropolis of Isleton. With luck we'll have a dozen or so steamboats and maybe a pile of other steam powered stuff there, too.

I don't think my little steam iron boiler would handle that beauty. The new toy checks out as pretty much leak proof, and the safety valves seem to open at 55 and 60 PSI. Now I need to do some cleanup and electrical work. Gerry :-)} London, Canada
