OT but so what"

Thanks everyone who responded to my questions about my gravel road. There was good advice in the responces. Here's what I've done so far. I dug out the low wet spots until I hit fairly dry dirt. The reason the low spots were wet is because part of the area the road crosses is a depression that has no way to drain fast. Because it is way too much work to install a drain I decided to make the low section high with a dry well beneath. So I filled the dug out area with about 3 yards of mixed sized rocks.I have plenty of these rocks as it seems like any time I disturb the earth here on Whidbey Island rocks spring up and get in the way. So right now I have about 8 yards worth of rocks piled up in various places. Anyway, the low area is now raised with non-compactable rocks so that it is above the low spots on either side of the road. I will be getting some railroad ballast type rocks to spread on the new road. The rest of my driveway was done this way some years ago and then covered with11/2" minus gravel with binder after the larger rocks were compacted by being driven on. So next year I'll cover the new section of road with the same gravel as the rest of the driveway. Thanks, Eric
