Porous Bronze v Phosphor Bronze bearings for model engine

Jul 31, 2007 1 Replies

Just planning my next escapade, a v-twin 9cc aero engine. The front crankshaft bearing is a plain bearing called off in porous bronze. At

8000rpm for short duration runs, eg 5mins is porous bronze really necessary?

Regards

Steve

Unless you have positive lubrication, yes. The porous medium holds oil.
