Solvent for Masking Tape Glue ???

Any suggestions for a solvent that will remove masking tape glue (??latex??) for tape that has been left on for yonks?

My new toy (Interact) has had its control cabinet held together with masking tape by a previous owner. I've re-engineered the case (actually fitted a replacement back panel) but would like to remove the evidence - nothing I've tried yet touches it.

It might be as quick to rub it down with wet & dry and give it a nice new coat of paint.

If it really is masking tape, white spirit should remove it. If it's old and dried on, you may need to soak it for a while (leave a well soaked cloth on it for an hour or two, then rub!)

I have found that paint brush cleaner (Polyclens or equivalent) is often good at shifting stuff that other solvents don't touch.

And if that doesn't work, try lighter fluid.

I always use meths or petrol lighter fuel to remove all sorts of tape, and those blasted label which shops put on things.

Any of the "sticky stuff" removers containing d-limonene will do the trick; I have used it on very old masking tape deposits and a short soak will soon have it off. Mike

I use a product which believe it or not is called "Sticky Stuf Remover" I got mine at the local Focus DIY store, it basically does what it say on the label.

Turps - or for environmentalists the new paintbrush cleaning fluid. It even dissolves coax-seal.
