I'm looking for any websites or material with schematics and/or information about DIY Capacitance discharge Unit (CDU) Ignition systems.
After a bit of research I wanted to ask a few questions about CDU controllers. I'm not quite a *wiz* with electronics and I'm having a hard time finding schematics for a Capacitance discharge Unit (CDU) Ignition system for use with model rocketry. Over the weekend I had a chance to see one of these units running off just a single 9v battery fire 10 igniters attached to 300ft leads I was quite impressed. This is something my 12v car battery can't even do. So I've been looking into augmenting my homemade 10 pad controller to use a CDU as a power source or perhaps building a new controller based on this principal.
I've read on many sites that photo flash units can be converted for this purpose, however if at all possible I'd like to start from scratch and understand how each part interacts.
