Searching for files

Does anyone know how to search for files faster? I have unselected show thumbnail graphics in Windows Explorer, yet it takes Explorer too long to identify each file when scrolling thru our library containing hundreds of parts. Are there any additional settings within Windows XP that can be unselected or changed? I enjoy using this method due to the preview capability.

If you have an organized numbering system a macro can be written to find and preview your file without browsing. This has been working for me for some time now. Though I am still unable to preview dwgs.

I agree that our network may be part of the culprit. The main problem seems to be Window XP related because no bottleneck occurred with NT.

you could get yerself a real file-manager for windows: 2XExplorer!
