Bit OT - Job lot find

There was an auction on Tuesday selling transport stuff - I bought my Anzani model there last year. I went to the viewing day on Monday & found a table at the back of the room groaning with "miscellaneous items" - a pile of tools, old car new stock - points etc- etc. in one lot. In amongst the stuff was a rather nice nickel plated automotive dynamo & there was something about it which drew my attention. I couldn't go in the end, so left a commission bid and was really surprised to not only win but at somewhat below my limit!

I went & fetched it yesterday & was further surprised to find that there were three more boxes of stuff hidden below the dust sheet on the table & these were mine as well! I'd bought several sets of decent open ended spanners, all Whitworth or AF. A similar box of woodworking tools, scrapers, screwdrivers, etc - nothing exciting. Several hammers of both slot & ball pien types. Over a dozen adjustable spanners & two Molegrips in far better state than mine! A very complete set of Elora sockets, used but not abused & including a torque wrench & in their original case. A battered suitcase with Victorian photos, a fascinating book "A Hundred Safe Chemical Experiments for Boys" dating from I'd say the 1920's. Odd bits of aged Meccano. Unexplored as yet is the large cardboard box full of new old stock car spares - points, condensers, hoses, brake pipes, bulbs etc, etc. Tools & stuff I shall keep, the rest is bound for e-Bay. Hazel loved the book & its calm way of saying things like "slowly mix some hydrochloric acid ....." & insists we keep it for the grandson.

- and the dynamo? As solely fitted to Rolls-Royce 20 & 20/25 cars, complete with straps and magneto drive shaft. Might fetch a bob or two ;o))

My lucky find of the Roll-Royce 20/25 dynamo fetched £225 on e-bay this morning. Aside from making a bob or two, I've made a nice man very happy indeed & am meeting him at Clacket Lane on Saturday on my way to do Saxon House things.
