Miller machine

I use a lot of 6013 . 6011 is very good rod but penetrates quite deeply..often times more deeply than one needs when dealing with tubular metals.

Nothing at all wrong with buzzboxes and the little Miller is a good machine! I rather doubt you will ever "burn it out". A lot of those machines were used in schools and farm shops.

"The socialist movement takes great pains to circulate frequently new labels for its ideally constructed state. Each worn-out label is replaced by another which raises hopes of an ultimate solution of the insoluble basic problem of Socialism, until it becomes obvious that nothing has been changed but the name. The most recent slogan is "State Capitalism."[Fascism] It is not commonly realized that this covers nothing more than what used to be called Planned Economy and State Socialism, and that State Capitalism, Planned Economy, and State Socialism diverge only in non-essentials from the "classic" ideal of egalitarian Socialism. - Ludwig von Mises (1922)

I bought a little Miller M250, IIRC. It is an ac welder, and for all the world looks like the prerunner to the Thunderbolt. About the same size and heft, just arranged horizontal, not vertical. Sprayed the on/off switch and revived it, blew out the webs and dead spiders, and fired it up. Watched a youtube on ad welding, and learned what I didn't know about rod movement on ac.

What do you think of this machine? What rods? Lots of 6011 came with it. How much amperage should I run it at top end to avoid burning it out? I have eighth inch and 3/32 rods for it now. Going to beef up a trailer with it, and can't wait to try it.]
