O-A flame pics?

I'm doing a quickie lesson on OA cutting.

Anyone got some nice pics of the inner and outer cones for adjusting an O-a torch?

Also need one of the charts showing the various OA cutting issues with suggested fixes.

Fer me, AND ONLY FER ME, I found that if you have the acet at 4 (for anythickness, 4 for everything, LEAVE IT AT 4 PERIOD) and then adjust the O2 flame so that when you push the cut lever, the length of the cones does not change, that's pretty close to right. So, I light the torch, adjust the gas until it doesn't give off black floatey boogers. Then I open up the O2 a little, press the bar, and continue opening the O2 up until I get short cones around 1/8 to 3/16 range, that's about right. Then I do the press the bar/let it go thing and adjust the O2 until the cones do not change in length. Cut a mile of metal, and it works for me.

YMM(and probably does)V

I could show you in a minute, but then I'd have to kill you.................

It's really not that hard. Most people get their acetylene pressure off, and 4 is about right for anything. If you can get it to where the cones are the same with the lever on or off, you're there. It's simple, but as the area of an quadrilateral, unless you've done it twenty times, it's not so sure.

In words, d1 times d2 times sine Theta divided by 2. For a math hound, that's 1 + 2 = 3.

Well, I think that I neutral flame should look similar regardless of whether it=92s from a welding tip or a cutting tip and he was looking for pictures and that=92s all I could find for him. No one else stepped up to the plate.

I thought that you use to use an old sig line from a Theodore Roosevelt quote (the doer and the critic).

I agree on the 4 psi acet pressure, thats what I do. Crack the O2 to keep the boogers down, light the torch, full on the acet valve, use O2 valve to adjust the inner and outer cones to match for a neutral flame. Hit the O2 lever to see if things are working right, go to work. Adjust O2 pressure to get full cut but minimum slag on the backside. If I have a klutz for an operator, I may need to increase the acet to 5# to get some additional preheat.

It's not criticizing to point out a major difference. As you can see, I have posted explicit directions on how to set the gauges and cones. That's doing in my book.
