RJ11 is generally understood to be a two-conductor connector (with 6 positions), while RJ12 is for 4 conductors, but the terminology is often loosely applied. However, Maplins applies the terms to 4C and

6C respectively for its couplers.

I would expect anything described as a crossover to have 4 conductors, swapping 2,5 with 3,4.
