weslock

This is probably too simple for this newsgroup - however it is more then I can figure out on my own. I have a hallway coat closet door that has a weslock (non security - no lock on it) that I would like to remove and reinstall in a new door. The bedrooms have weslock's that I can remove - after I get the inside plate (don't know the technical term for this part) off - I can rotate it and loosen the screws that hold the lock using the hole for the push lock. The closet door does not have an opening - I can release the plate but there is only perhaps a half inch of play - I can see the screws but cannot figure out how to loosen them since I cannot get a screwdriver past the plate. I thought that maybe I could rotate the piece that holds the screws and it would come loose but it is too tight. Long paragraph for want is probably a simple answer - thanks for any help. Linda

On the edge of the spindle on the inside knob there will be a slot. Using a small flat screwdriver depress the keeper and pull the knob off.

The decorative rose plate has a little slot in the edge you can insert a screwdriver and twist to pop off the decorative rose.

Under that will be a steel plate with two screws.

Note on a closet the outside and the inside may be reversed so if you do not find a knob keeper on the inside look on the outside.

Post back if you have any more questions.

E-mail is OK also if you can figure out my munge.
