Effect of forging methods on tensile strength of aluminum alloy 2618

Feb 12, 2004 1 Replies

I found in Metals' handbook that forgings normally have lower tensile and yield strength compared to typical products, do you know why they are lower? Also, for different forging methods, the values are different.

How will you compare the typical tensile test value between die forgings and upset forgings?

Thanks,

Sunny
