The Hybrid - Hybrid Drive Train (Was APUs From Turbo Chargers)

If the efficiency of a turbo only system bypassing the cylinders could be improved it might make sense on what should be called a "hybrid hybrid."

When you are just sitting or moving slowly in traffic you bypass the cylinders and only run the turbo system to charge up a fast discharge battery to power an electric motor. Then you might get 45 mpg city even in a big SUV.

And when you haul your boat up a 6% grade at 70 mph you run the entire engine and get 3.2 mpg.

The Ceramic "expander" is needed in a TurboJet engine to be cost effective and it COSTS ! The Germans have built 2 stroke diesels that are twice the effeciency of gas engines . They DO not require dual compressors , only a Turbo . to start . The effecncy is upped by Exhausting thru ports and intaking thru valves in head . This allows super "timing" . The exhaust is opened by ports , but intake is timed perfectly withcams/valves in head . There's lots of time at BDC !

My two stroke diesel has a blower that blows into ports at the bottom and exhausts through valves at the top.
