That's how I am Rusty, but I have a really good 3d package called SolidWorks that I have never really drawn with just sitting around collecting dust. The grafics are so good it looks almost like you can hold the parts in your hand.. .. not really, but they do look good. I am going to try more design time on the computer to see if I can keep up with my imagination. Too many ideas, not enough time.

I don't think this is a situation of "dual personality." Whether by existing drawing or my own design, I visualize in 3D what I am making. That suits two diverse purposes. On the one hand, working from another's drawing, it gets the "does it make sense... will it work, can it be done tests accomplished. On the other hand, working from my "drawings" in my own mind the input must pass the same tests and I fabricate just as surely as if working from "ink drawings," although it does allow for immediate revision.

That's part of the fun Geoff... you get to take things apart that you don't have to put back together, You don't even have to remember where all the parts are. Then you transform it into something else. Isn't it kool to have grown up tools, so you can make your own toys.
