How Are Bearing Driver / Presses Made?

Hi. I bought a $10 set of Harbor Freight metal presses for pressing in/outbearings and cylindrical things. They are those disk/slug things that arecylindrical and come in differenent shapes. Does anyone know how those aremade? I need some that are larger than what was in that kit, and I don'tknow somewhere else to buy some already made, or what to ask for if I was toask someone about custom making some for me. I am probably going to needsome that are custom made, as one of the uses I want to use for some are forinstalling roller bearings, and I don't want them to touch the inner race,just the outer race.Thanks.

And you don't know anyone with a welder who might do all the welding for you for a 6-pack or a tenspot? Ask around. You're bound to find someone just up the street who has a leetle welder you could use or talk them into using for you.

My friend with a welder lives two hours away, so slows it down.

Someone else mentioned using the old ones, so since I happen to have two old ones that I was just going to throw away anyway, I will try them. I didn't make the connection onyour post, about the possibility of using the old ones. I only have two different tapered roller bearings to worry about, so that will do it for the tapered roller bearings.
