Rebuild kit for old Walker floor jack--worth it?

I have a really, really old (cast iron hoods over the casters) Walker 1.5T floor jack. It has a lot of wear, but it gives a high lift, must weight close to 100 pounds, and has been a good friend. So it doesn't pump properly anymore and I need a rebuild kit. First question, does anyone have rebuild kits for these things anymore? Second question, is it worth fixing? It's only rated at

3000 pounds (even though it might be a stronger 1.5T than new junk) and I could a new 3 ton jack of similar size for around $70-100.

Any input? It's such a well-built monster I'm reluctant to get rid of it.

You forgot to say where you're located.

Most cities have a place that rebuilds floor jacks for all the gas stations, or I should say most cities *did*. Find it. Ask them.

Most cities "did" have gas stations that used floor jacks.

Even if you can't find a rebuild kit for that specific jack, take it apart before you junk it.

These old jacks are way better than the junk that most companies are selling now. I have an old Sears floor jack that was built to last forever but stopped pumping. I couldn't find a rebuild kit for it, but it turned out upon disassembly that it only needed an o-ring replaced and the oil topped off and now its kicking import floor jack ass again.

Good luck-

You might need some new balls for the check valves. They can be bought fairly cheaply from bearing supply houses. You do have to buy

100 at a time, but not expensive.

casters) Walker 1.5T

lift, must weight close

pump properly anymore snipped

Have you tried bleeding the cylinder? Remove the fill plug and gently pump the handle and see if you get air bubbles. If so, top off the oil, put the fill plug back on and raise the jack under weight. Repeat until you don't get anymore bubbles. I have to do this every once in awhile on my jack and it works wonders. Been there, done that. It failed over the course of a few days, and no pumping action whatsoever. I'm guessing it's the pump seal or a check valve. If I lift up the arm manually it'll stay there with no creep. Main piston seals can't be too bad.

Found out that I can probably get a kit for this for uder $30. Not bad considering the based-on-my-old-Walker Lincoln 2-ton jack is $250.
