I’ve been trying to learn more about metal fabrication lately, and I’m curious to hear from people who’ve actually worked hands-on in this field.
From what I’ve seen so far, a lot of beginners (including me) tend to focus too much on tools and machines, but maybe miss out on the basics—like proper measurements, choosing the right material, or understanding how heat can change the metal during cutting or welding.
It also feels like planning doesn’t get enough attention. One small mistake at the start can turn into a bigger problem later on.
I was also reading that the metal fabrication industry is pretty large already (around $650+ billion) and still growing steadily over the next decade. So I guess more people are getting into it, which probably means these beginner mistakes are quite common.
For those with real experience:
What’s the mistake you see most often? Is it more about rushing, or just not knowing the fundamentals? Anything you wish you had learned earlier? Would really appreciate any advice or real-world lessons.
