Hydrovane compressor

Hi all, I'm looking for a little info on an old Binks Bullows Hydrovane compressor that's come my way cheap. It's a 4hp one (model 48SR1800), reading 150psi on the gauge. How many cfm is it likely to deliver? How old could it be? It were pretty mucky when I got it, so I've carefully stripped, cleaned & rebuilt it. I'd never seen a machine like this dismantled before, so it's made an interesting project. TIA, JV

Hi Should deliver around 12 cfm@100psi. These machines were no longer being made when I started as a compressor engineer 20 years ago. But it is more likely to be 25+ years old. The original design dates from the fifties. I should have a manual at work if you need any help in rebuilding.

I believe that Hydrovanes were installed where there was a need for high volume. I know that they used to be prevalent in bakery plants where there is a continuous requirement for significant volume of air, eg blowing loaves out of baking tins and thus the air going to waste.
